One Stone and Boise Sunrise Rotary – A compelling partnership
For a number of years, the Rotary Club of Boise Sunrise has supported One Stone in Boise with cash grants. That support continues in 2021. We admire the innovative work that One Stone is doing as well as the healthy component of community service that their curriculum advocates. This is how they describe their work.
One Stone makes students better leaders and the world a better place. Our programs empower high school students across the greater Boise area to learn and practice 21st Century skills through experiential service, innovative initiatives, social entrepreneurship, and the radical reinvention of learning.

At the heart of One Stone is Project Good. This experiential service program is an opportunity for high school students to develop crucial skills including empathy, grit, leadership, and collaboration while creating innovative service projects that meet real community needs. Project Go
od offers new ways for students to learn about pressing issues where they live, take action on those issues using design thinking, and develop the mindsets and skills to continue to make positive change wherever they go in their lives.
Open Book Adventures (OBA) is a com
munity-based mentoring and literacy after-school program. The program matches 1st and 2nd graders (“Buddies”) with a One Stone high school mentor (“Adventure Guide”) for educational experiences designed to build reading competency and a love of learning.
This is a terrific group of motivated and empathetic individuals who are shaping a new model for high school learning. Boise Sunrise is proud to support One Stone in their efforts to leave it better than they found it. We have new (and young!) collaborators in Service Above Self!
