The Rotary Club of Boise Sunrise meets Tuesday mornings from 7:00 – 8:00 AM at The Riverside hotel in Boise. We're a breakfast club and this meeting timing is often attractive to many career professionals. We have ~75 members and these include 3 former Rotary District Governors (DGs), two former Rotary Youth Exchange committee chairpersons for District 5400, and one former Idaho Supreme Court justice.
Boise Sunrise is a very active club in terms of community service and our motto is that we strive to leave it better than we found it. Local projects supported by BSRC include distributing dictionaries to third graders at 7 different Boise elementary schools, management of the highly successful Everyday Leadership program at 5 different Boise schools, Rake-up Boise, and primary support of Hope House in Marsing. In 2021, BSRC also made 18 cash grants to local non-profits around the Treasure Valley. International projects include hosting and sponsoring exchange students for overseas experiences in the USA and in numerous foreign countries. We also support of the Gorongosa National Park health clinics in Mozambique. Numerous club members have travelled to Colima in Mexico in support of Project Amigo as well as providing financial support to their work in sponsoring high achieving students through high school and university in SW Mexico. BSRC is a long time supporter of Semilla Nueva in Guatemala and has provided grants as well as board members to this organization that is developing and deploying bio-fortified corn in Central America.
Perhaps the most important aspect of the club is the fellowship that we all enjoy in the company of other community service focused leaders. This work transcends ideological barriers. We don't all hold similar political or religious beliefs, but these differences don't get in the way of our efforts to collaborate and be of service locally and globally. The Rotary motto of Service Above Self is enthusiastically embodied by Boise Sunrise Rotary. We recognize that there is work to do in service to youth, to local non-profit organizations, and to chosen international NGOs and we embrace this role as a dedicated and motivated team of community leaders.
If this kind of family sounds attractive to you, we’d love to hear from you! This is life changing work; for the recipients of our efforts and for the club members addressing these projects. We strive to leave it better than we found it.
